![]() I don’t know if Unforgiving mode hasn’t been fully fleshed out yet(wouldn’t be surprised) but I don’t see anyone else addressing this. The SAY events(or just events in general) never auto save when you make an important decision, meaning that important choices can ultimately be circumvented entirely by making a decision, then going back to the main menu if you aren’t satisfied with it. I hate to say it but this mode can abused to an absurd degree. Unlike the standard save system, you get only to auto save every time you visit an island. In this mode, its purpose is to make the game feel "Unforgiving". I would be more inclined to wander South with those vessels, but as it stands, I'm kind of limited to the starting areas as I am somewhat attached to my Captain :P.Sunless Sea has been out a while and "Unforgiving mode" has been around for since the beginning and there’s something I’m a bit confused about. My plan is to start doing runs (getting port reports along the way to supplement fuel costs) and save up for the cargo ship so I can use it to get to the Frigate/Dreadnought. I've started a littler journal and am writing down all the costs of the different items at the different ports. I have a starter ship so I'm rather lucky I didn't find it. I also found out that Mt Nomad is somewhere near the Avid Horizon, which I was wandering about yesterday. Managed to get around a headland and escape, but Jesus, lol. I was killing pirates around Gaiden Mourn and nearly died to a Jellyfish, which almost ended my run right there. I just managed to unlock the Iron Will, so I feel a little better about the entire affair, but it's like they say, the Zee is a dangerous place. It's strange, I'm used to having a safety net and that complete lack of it and the lack of information regarding what's out there really screws with me. At the moment I'm still pottering about the areas I've explored, picking up Port Reports and trying to scout out the prices so I can maybe make a few trade runs to save up that capital. What I want to do is have about 500 Echoes saved up so I can make a pit stop halfway somewhere and restock, but I haven't quite figured out all the places where I can resupply. The South scares me, there's such a large area and I've read things on the forums that makes me worried that if I go out there, I won't be coming back. I'm about 6 hours in and I've explored the North West an Northern sections of the map, but I don't have enough money yet to make an expedition to the North East or the South. Of course if all else fails there's always the manual save option although I have avoided this and for me and important part of the game is that you have to live with your mistakes. How far are you into the game as I've found that once you get over that initial "hump" at the start of the game echoes are plentiful enough that resource management becomes very much not can I afford fuel and supplies but making sure you know where you can buy or obtain for free more on longer exploration journeys.Īs for monsters, I tend to just ignore them - well at least until I can upgrade my ship to something more suitable. The thing is, I could deal with all of that, if I was just able to make some Echoes without pulling out my eyeballs with my fingernails so I could go back to exploring and enjoying the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing work that went into the writing. ![]() Repeat ad nauseum for every single thing you run into around the map. ![]() Not, "Oh holy sh*t I just left port, followed the coast north, got attacked by a life-berg and died in 1 hit". ![]() Better get some fuel and supplies so I don't die at sea". I couldn't give a flying monkey about the resource management and I dislike how it's such a large (and incrediblly dangerous) part of the game.įor me, the resource management should be like "oh, there are large monsters in the way, better go discover some new ports so I can hand them in to the admiralty and save up. The most compelling thing about this game is the atmosphere and writing contained within. Originally posted by Riftgardian:I'm just going to go ahead and post here so I can find this topic again.
