![]() you see where this is going, horror can be a total detractor from the riddling, and the mechanical nature of riddling can be a total detractor from horror. I feel like there is also undesirable uncertainty in the game, sometimes your flashlight flicker and ghost flicker sync up so well that it's extremely hard to judge the distance between you and the ghost, resulting in you having a less precise idea when to smudge and. The most fun part about this is the riddling involved in finding the ghost part, but none of this is scary. > You go into the house, secure hiding spots, bring a smudge and lighter in the case you're hunted, figure out ghost room, find bone, take interaction photos and as soon as you've done everything you leave. Phasmo works completely different from this, if you've played for a couple of weeks you can perfect games in 5-10 Minutes because you know exactly what to do, exactly when you are in danger and exactly how to avoid dying. You have the humming buildup as an indicator, but every interaction you have with her makes you scared that you're going to die. The reason PT was so scary was the fact that you never knew when you would die. and i think shadows are a lot more unsettling than complete ghost models. that feeling is part of what got me into phasmo. I don’t really care for the ghost models at this point- don’t get me wrong, they’re cool to look at! but i like ominous, unsettling things vs jump scares. Ghosts crab walking backwards towards you quickly and then disappearing and going “hey” and drop your sanity after by a massive percentage. if you turn on any lights, triggers a hunt.ĭark shadows of ghosts staring at you from doorways silently while tilting their heads in curiosity. if you manage to leave the house without turning on lights, no hunt. I would love for crawling ghosts to be shadows looking at you from the ceiling upside down with beady white eyes (like the buddy in the attic!) or other poses you would only ever see contortionists do.ĭark shadows (no ghosts) slowly crawling up the walls and disappearing if you turn the lights back on or shine your flashlight on them. If the ghost turns up the heat, start breathing heavy like you are hot and exhausted. ![]() If its super cold, have your character shiver. (have a very rare event where it goes absolutely HAM and shorts out the detector with a series of distorted wails)īlocks in the nursery rearranging themselves to spell things (cliche stuff like get out, or die, or murder)įridges opening and slamming shut, ovens and burners bursting into flames for a short time, microwaves and blenders turning on. ![]() Smoke detectors getting triggered by some ghost types as an event. Very low whispering if you are in the ghost room and being totally silent. But why not make it fog up the mirrors and have GET OUT written on them?ĭirty water having a chance to become bloody water that overflows onto the floor, and the ghost can leave bloody footprints.ĭuring a ghost hunt, if the ghost gets a kill it will leave bloody handprints on any door it touches shortly after. Showers being turned on is already a thing. There is sooo much potential for some crazy stuff to be added. View the full, more detailed rules page here.
